How The Seven Chakras Impact Us

June 16th, 2010

It is surprising enough that every new dimension of human existence reveals a new secret and arouses newer aspects related to the successful existence of the human race. One such highly mysterious and quite unknown aspect that helps govern the human body and the human mind is the network of the seven chakras that are held in the human body as 7 circles of energy.

More than the energy that we actually receive from the kind of food we intake, we need energy that would help us refresh our mind and souls and this energy is obtained by the interaction of the seven chakras in our body and the celestial objects.

On most occasions people fail to understand the kind of effect the chakras in their body have on the attitude they wear as well as the kind of life they lead. A very popular theory states that a person with positive thoughts ends up achieving better results as compared to a person with a negative frame of mind. The reason is simple as positivity in thoughts is the result of the abundant positive energy in the chakra governing the thoughts.

Each chakra plays its part in controlling and regulating a particular organ or habit that we possess, also the level of impact the chakras would have on their specified body part or behaviour would be different from each other.

The various centres of energy which regulate various activities we perform can be understood better in the following way.

The first chakra that lies towards the end of the spine is known as the root chakra, its impact is clearly visible on the character of the person, while the chakra has positive energy it develops the characteristics of strong will and determination. This chakra helps to control the organs in the lower abdomen, especially the intestine and other organs.

The second chakra is the genital chakra, it not only helps you relieve from worldly pleasures when it is in a positive state but also carries a favourable impact on your brain and hence broadens your vision and mind. However this chakra in the negative stage can make you feel cruel and ignorant. It is in control of the urinary and the genital organs and functions.

Umbilical chakra is the third of the series of seven chakras and it has an impact on the mental stability and reactions that a person might have to certain situations. While there is an inclination towards the positive side the chakra inculcates will power and mental strength but when weakened it arouses embarrassment, idiocy, jealousy and represents an instable behaviour. It controls a good part of the digestive system.

The fourth chakra from the bottom is the heart chakra that is responsible for the generation of various emotions as well as inspires feelings of liking and admiration. As the name suggests it has firm control over the human heart and if filled with negativity can lead to feelings of hatred and hypocrisy.

Above the heart chakra is the fifth chakra referred to as the throat chakra, it controls the way we speak as well as what we speak. It helps to regulate critical organs including the mouth and the lungs.

The third eye chakra is the sixth chakra and it helps to pass judgements and perceive things. Positive energy here enhances vision, hearing and smelling powers.

The last chakra is called the crown chakra and it deals with taking ones own self to the divine path and reaching a stage of enlightenment.

Improve Your Life With Chakra Color Therapy

February 26th, 2010

The attainment of inner peace does not require any external force. There is a huge energy reservoir within our bodies that is sufficient to fulfill all our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. All that is required is to channel and balance the movement of seven primary energy centers, or chakras, in the body.

In addition to their location in the body and significance, these seven chakras can also be distinguished by the colors associated with each of them. You can use these colors to correct the imbalance in their movements that might have crept in due to any reason. The process of using colors in such a therapeutic manner is known as Chakra Color Therapy.

Before discussing about the Chakra Color Therapy, a brief description of the primary chakras and their associated colors will not be out of place:

1. The Root Chakra (or Muladhara), situated at the base of the spine, is associated with our general health and survival, courage, and vitality. Red is the color associated with this chakra, which empowers the body with overall energy and vitality.

2. The Naval Chakra (or Svadhisthana), situated at the center of abdomen, is associated with emotions and sexuality. Orange is the color associated with this chakra, which empowers the body with self-confidence, feelings of success, and independence of thought.

3. The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) is situated in the stomach region. This third chakra is associated with lending power, will and identity to the individual. The color associated with this chakra is Yellow. The attributes of Yellow color for the body include thought clarity and self-worthiness.

4. The Heart Chakra (or Anahata), situated at the center of the chest, is associated with love, relationships, and compassion. Green is the color associated with this chakra, which empowers the body with the sense of forgiveness and intimacy.

5. The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) is situated in the throat region. This fifth chakra is associated with expressing oneself and communicating with others. The color associated with this chakra is Blue. The attributes of Blue color for the body includes creativity, self-identification, and clearly expressing ones thoughts.

6. The Brow Chakra (or Ajna), situated between the brows on the forehead, is associated with perception, intuition, and imagination. Indigo is the color associated with this chakra, which empowers the body with qualities, like visualization, understanding, and clear vision.

7. The Crown Chakra, or Sahasrara, is located on top of the head. This chakra is associated with wisdom and enlightenment. The associated color is Violet, which is known for its qualities of self-knowledge and spiritual awareness.

The color associated with each Chakra can be used and incorporated in our lives to balance the dysfunctioning chakras. Chakra Color therapy can be used only after identifying the damaged chakras in the body, which are responsible for its abnormal functioning.

For the very first step, you can simply lie down, relax, and mull over all the events in the day in any order that is convenient to you. The experience of emotions related to each event will tell you the affected chakra. After identifying the problem chakra, its time for Color Breathing. Its simple. Take all the seven colored cloth swatches besides you. Put the relevant colored cloth on the body part, which is represented by the affected chakra. Lie down, close your eyes, relax, take deep breaths, and simply visualize the absorption of the color by the affected body part for 5-10 minutes. Repeat this exercise if there are more affected chakras in the body.

Chakra Color Therapy is a healthy option for maintenance of chakra balance. For daily maintenance, just lie down and repeat the above process by placing the relevant colored swatches on the relevant body parts. 5-10 minutes should be sufficient to recharge your chakras and correct the imbalanced ones to give you a better life free of physical, emotional or spiritual ailment.
