Dallas Tops Tampa In Week One NFL Action

Tony Romo passed for a NFL career best 353 yards and threw three touchdown passes as the Dallas Cowboys got their 2009 season off to a good start with a 34-21 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys answered a lot of questions about how their receiving corps would respond to the absence of Terrell Owens, now with the Buffalo Bills.

The Cowboys easily covered the pointspread as -4 road favorites, and improved to 16-12 over the last three years when laying points. Tampa Bay dropped to 17-17 over the same timeframe as an underdog. The 55 combined points went OVER the posted total of 39.

After the game Roy Williams couldn’t resist a wisecrack about T.O.:

“Career-high passing yards? Without T.O? “No, it’s good. It’s good for him. It’s good for this team. It was a team effort. Everybody contributed.”

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said he wasnt surprised:

“They are playmakers, and we knew that going in. But until you do it, the naysayers are going to say: ‘Hey. You don’t have this or that.’ But I think we do.”

Romo, meanwhile, preferred to focus on the victory:

“You don’t think about yards. You’re not judged off of yards. You’re judged off of winning and losing at this position.”

Raheem Morris was still upbeat despite going down to defeat in his regular season NFL coaching debut:

“Obviously, we’re disappointed. But there were a lot of good things on offense.”

Perhaps the brightest silver lining in the dark cloud of the loss was the performance of Cadillac Williams. Williams appeared fully recovered from his injuries and rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown.

Bucs cornerback Ronde Barber suggested that the final score masked the fact that the team played well:

“We had our chances. The final score is definitely not indicative of how good we played at times. Those big plays absolutely destroy you football team.

The Cowboys will open their season at their plush new $1 billion plus stadium this Sunday, hosting the New York Giants. The Bucs will head to upstate New York to face T.O and his new team, the Buffalo Bills. Theyll return to Florida the following week to take their turn hosting the New York Giants.

SEO Simplified

SEO is essentially a constantly evolving study of what factors the search engines take into account when they ‘rank’ you in their natural search listings. These lists are the main results that are shown when you do a search. They’re different from the ads that companies have paid for. Pay Per Click adverts are generally sectioned off down the right hand side, with a couple across the top of the page. All the others are ‘naturally’ listed from the Search Engine’s index. Sites are graded by how relevant they are, and how important they are (according to the SE!).

Of course, we would like to be as high as possible on page one. A site that’s half way down page seven is unlikely to be bombarded with enquiries! No-one knows all the factors that Search Engines (SE’s) use to determine your rank. They don’t want us to know.

Because of this, much technical expertise has developed around the subject. And so we have on one side Google and Bing purposely patenting different technologies. (Which leads to much confusion of course!) On the other side you have an SEO industry. This involves measuring various factors and doing empirical tests to establish the most important ones to target.

SEO looks at two different aspects – one is Off Page and the other is On Page. In addition there are geographic and demographic factors, but SEO cannot control these. To understand factors relating to off-page, please see our additional editorial.

ON PAGE SEO Explained

On-Page SEO is all about changes you can make directly to a site to make it more Search Engine ‘friendly’. This is actually a fairly clear-cut process. It involves such factors as – Internal-linking, using H1 & H2 header tags, seeding keywords at the correct density (and in appropriate places,) and to some lesser degree, using meta-tags.

That might sound like gobbledy-gook, but don’t be alarmed! On-Page optimisation is now known to have the smallest affect on your page rank. In truth, many argue its relevance has disappeared altogether! In the past it was easy to affect Search Engines with on-page SEO. Not any longer though.

Having said that, if the website benefits from off page optimisation, then on page work should be looked at. When that’s happened, on-page factors can be optimised.

Things To Consider… A phrase that shows vast numbers of results should not be your first SEO target. ‘Car Insurance’ is a term to stay away from – unless you want to compete with 70,000,000 others! It’s not rocket science to realise that competing in this area wouldn’t be productive.

And Yet – When I search for “Southampton Car Insurance”, it comes down to a more manageable 300K. (If car insurance in Southampton was my business!) Though still large, this is a much more manageable figure.

Now my chances are significantly improved. In actual fact, it takes very deep pockets to get a premier listing for a term like ‘car insurance’. I would actually be competing with the insurance conglomerates! Which is really not a good idea.

It’s far better to choose phrases that are more specific to our offering. They’re known as long tail searches, because they’ll have several keywords. Phrases can be as many as seven words, depending on your competition. Generally we use 3 to 4 words.

We prefer to begin optimisation strategies with phrases that bring in less than five hundred thousand results. (In some cases, we may go with a higher count – if the current page 1 results are not well SEO’d.) We’ll automatically move up the ratings for the more popular search terms as we gain more back-links. If we’ve worked well, we can start hitting the bigger terms in a few months time. This strategy is also far more targeted at the start. Frankly, we’re only interested in the customers who are looking specifically for what we offer. There’s much more chance these people will buy!

Don’t just limit building back links to your website’s home page – link them up to various sub pages as well. We call this ‘deep-linking’ – and Google in particular likes this. For example, build links to the pages that group products. That’s because pages like this generally have links to several individual pages. Do not simply build links to your website’s home page. Search Engines are increasingly focused on the individual pages within a website.

When it is time to rest after a hard day’s labor it might take a little coffee or probably a few rounds of alcoholic drink or any other booze you could get your hands on. Okay, yeah I’m to be blamed for that one also, unless I’m caught dead wearing a lampshade over my head after a few rounds of vodka… half-naked! Okay, bad example and I apologize to everyone reading this after getting dreadful dreams about me in that state of drunken state of unconsciousness.

Please, Just don’t ask about that experience.

Nevertheless the most interesting part of the matter is that I ask myself: how do people go through the usual part of life when faced with vein-popping pressure? Get me clearer, the new age thing like Zen or yoga is one of the good things and it actually works. Is there room for the intellectual side of people who can actually smell the roses-in-a-can while on the move? This really makes me think intensely that at least there really must be something in this ‘mind-over-matter’ thing.

Notwithstanding what’s been happening, and to those who has gone though the ordeal, it’s better to just laugh while facing the troubles with a clear mind than anger with a clouded vision. Indeed the best remedy there is whenever and wherever you are is humor. I mean anyone can pay good money to listen to a comedian just to make you wet your pants after laughing so hard.

One of my most wanted celebrities of all time may have to be Woody Allen. Now this is one guy who gives you the in-your-face bluntness that he pulls out with gusto, even without even trying. You can have a discussion just about anything with a man, and he will instantly poke fun at the area under discussion and you’ll end up laughing rather than being displeased about it.

This Concert Left Me Mesmerized And Wanting To Take An Acoustic Guitar Lesson

The other night, I was sitting at home, not expecting much to happen. I figured I’d watch some TV, eat some potato chips, have a few beers, and call it a night. Then a couple of buddies of mine unexpectedly showed up, telling me that I absolutely had to go with. I couldn’t help but agree, due to their incredible enthusiasm.

We were speeding down this windy mountain road in my friends VW Beetle. I didn’t think those things could go that fast. They kept playing these guitar based rock and roll songs on the radio. I guess we were warming up for something. What I had no idea.

Finally we pulled up to what looked like an abandoned furniture store. It was in a kind of industrial area, that wasn’t near any houses. The outside seemed dark, and a little bit spooky, to tell you the truth. When we walked inside I was completely amazed.

The inside was clean, and had several chairs set up that were facing a huge stage up in front. There was an area directly in front of stage with no chairs, so people could get up close to the stage. When we got there, there was still some space, so we pushed our way into the stage.

What happened next was amazing. This band jumped out on stage, and the clear leader, this guy that was playing an acoustic guitar, jumped right into the first song, which was this really long ballad, that was just absolutely beautiful. I’d never heard anything like it in my entire life.

They started giving out CDs to everybody that was there. I guess they just got this extremely huge recording deal, and were really happy. I was happy to, as it was by far, the greatest concert I’ve ever seen.

Puppy Leash Training – Here’s How

Training a puppy to accept a collar and leash is probably the single most important thing that you can work on when you start his training. Puppy leash training can begin almost as soon as you get him settled in his new home.

Training your dog to become accepting of a collar and leash is important because it will set you up to be in control. Once your dog accepts that you are in charge, training has a much better chance of success.

When your puppy learns that he must accept his collar and lead, you will be able to move onto other areas of dog training. Here’s what to do to teach him to accept his collar and lead.

Buy a collar that will fit your puppy now. Adjust it so that you can comfortably fit two fingers between the puppy’s neck and the collar. Be sure it is no tighter as you want your pet to be comfortable.

When you initially begin to use the collar, it will feel strange to your puppy. Give him lots of reassurance and attention to take his mind off it. It will take time before he gets used to the feel of the collar. Once he becomes used to simply having the collar on, you can move forward in training your puppy. Leash training, without a doubt, is easier if you have given your new puppy lots of time just getting used to wearing the collar.

After he has become accustomed to wearing his collar, the next step would be to attach a lightweight, short leash to his collar. The length of the leash should be about three feet or so. Then you are going to allow your puppy to simply drag the leash around for a few minutes at a time. You are trying to have him get used to the feeling of having something fastened to the collar.

Be sure to keep a close eye on him while he is dragging the lead around. He may become frightened and agitated if he gets stuck for any length of time. Your job is to ensure that this doesn’t happen. For right now, simply making him aware that the leash restricts him briefly is enough. Remember, you want this to be a positive experience for your puppy.

Within a few days he will have become accustomed to the feel of the leash. Once this happens, attach the other end of the leash to yourself rather than letting it drag loosely. As your puppy explores, he will get stuck as before. The difference is that this time, you will not go to him to free-up the leash.

Instead crouch down and call his name. Reach out your hand and offer him a toy or treat to try to get him to come to you. Praise him lavishly when he comes to you. Do this for a short time each day. Undo the leash after he has successfully come to you a few times, but always leave on his collar.

When he routinely returns to you when called, your puppy leash training has been a success. You can now move onto the rest of the training program knowing that it will be much easier.

After working with your new puppy teaching him to accept a collar and leash, he will be ready for a rest. Why not provide him with a cozy heated dog bed for inside. Even in summer, he’ll find his bed a warm spot in an air conditioned home. For outside, help him keep cool with a coolaroo dog bed. Coolaroo dog beds sit off the ground allowing for air flow underneath.

Want To Start Charging For Wedding Photography

A wedding is the kind of occasion that people want to display pictures of for years to come. Your clients will be looking for a quality track record because it is such a special moment they want capturing. You can make a lot of money if you decide to be a wedding photographer. With the money comes the risk which you must manage well.

If this is going to be your first wedding shoot you will want to make sure your contract is written up properly and a disclaimer included in it. A disclaimer is something that can prevent you from being sued later on. For example, you should include that you are not responsible for pictures that might get lost after you send the film away to get developed, or pictures that do not come out clear due to equipment failure. Otherwise you could get sued for breach of contract.

The hourly rate and how many pictures are to be taken should also be included in the contract. Something else you should include would be the fees for developing and the fee of the album. Your client’s requirements are important so make sure you talk it over with them. There could be a particular family member that they want photographed separately, or a certain group of people they do not get to see very often.

Make a list of all the pictures that your client’s requested. Here are a few common ones, pre-ceremony, wedding ceremony, post-ceremony and reception. Who will be in certain photographs should be discussed with the client as well. Pay attention to what your clients are saying because each one will be different.

It is smart to always ask for a booking fee. Without this you could be caught out if something goes wrong. If they have paid nothing then they are less likely to try to solve any problems that may occur. Most people will pay you 50% prior to the wedding and the remaining afterwards. You should set a date when the remaining amount will be paid because you do not want to be bothering the bride and groom during the reception for payment! It would look very unprofessional if you did.

If you are developing your client’s pictures yourself, Photoshop is an excellent photo editing program. Flaw removal, montage, and changing the color are a few of the enhancements you can use with Photoshop.

Always look to see how you can add more value than what you said you would give. A special surprise will keep everyone talking and generating more business for you in the future. Think different. Imagine for example if you uploaded all their pictures onto a password protected part of your website so that they and their friends can login and view.

In the end doing wedding photography can be lucrative and fun as long as you build on your people skills.

How To Make Money With Event Photography

If you focus on event photography you can make quite a bit of money. It is a varied and widely sought after field of photography.

Here\’s how you can do it

Cover only events where it is hard for people to take the pics themselves and where they will want to keep their memories frozen in film.

One idea is to go to kids sports events. Get permission from the coach to click pics for the parents watching and then start clicking away. If you turn up with a wopping big telephoto lens like the ones used for pro coverage of events, you will be taken seriously. Make sure you get all the children doing great action shots and then hand out flyers to all the parents watching with your web address. If you can grab the parents email address so you can email them the URL of you site then upload the pics to your web site that day and email everyone. If you have a simple shopping cart set up you can make money in a few hours as people pop in to see the pics and buy them for $20 or more a pop.

You can do a similar thing with weddings. Take all the normal shots as part of the wedding coverage but then get your URL printed on the wedding invites and all the other wedding materials and also get an email list of all the wedding guests, offer the couple a nice 20% discount for doing this and then take lots of extra pics at the wedding of the guests doing all the things they do. Upload all the pics to your site and send the emails. You will then make a lot more money than the 20% discount it cost you because then 20 or 30 people will be also buying your pics at $20 or more a shot straight from your site. You can also charge a higher price for high resolution pics.

The key is to just find a corner of the market where you can take the pics and then sell them easily online.

Dog shows, fashion shows, horse shows, car shows, livestock competitions, rock shows, – the list goes on. Keep your eye out in the events section of your local paper to see what is happening. Always ask for permission to shoot pics and if you need to offer the people 10% of the income if feel you need to so you can get easy access.

Understanding The Differences Between CFL Canadian Football And The NFL

Its that time of the year again–Americans are getting ready for football. In a few months NFL teams will be opening training camp and college football teams starting practice. Up north, however, the footballs are already flying as pro football is in full swing up in Canada with the Canadian Football League (CFL).

American football fans may not realize just how long and storied the history of Canadian pro football CFL style actually is. The league has been around since\’30 and the Grey Cup championship (essentially the CFL Superbowl) has been in existence since\’09. Many NFL stars got their start in the CFL including Doug Flutie, Jim Kelly, and Jeff Garcia.

While the CFL plays football at the highest professional level of competition outside of the NFL, there are a few differences in the game:

First of all, the football itself is bigger–the CFL ball is larger than its American counterpart. If you know anything about rugby, its roughly the same as a #3 rugby ball meaning it is somewhat longer and fatter than the NFL ball. The CFL field is also longer (110 yards) and wider (65 yards vs. the NFLs 53.5 yards), and the CFL end zones are 20 yards deep as opposed to 10 yards in the NFL. The CFL goal posts are on the goal line, while the NFLs are on the end line at the back of the endzone.

CFL teams are allowed to have 12 players on the field at a time, one more than is standard in American football. The extra offensive player is a wide receiver, and on defense they\’re allowed an extra defensive back. CFL teams allow a team only three downs to move ten yards as opposed to four in the US game–references to a team going \”two and out\” are common on CFL broadcasts.

There\’s also a significant difference in the way the game is scored. The first time many US fans see a CFL score update reflecting a 1-0 game they\’re usually left scratching their head in confusion. CFL teams are able to score a single point, known as a \”single\” for a kick that lands in the end zone such as a punt or missed field goal.

Of all the rule differences between the NFL and CFL the one that has the most significance on the game isnt enforced on the field; its enforced in the GMs office. Canadians are big on laws and rules to protect their national identity–thats why their TV and radio stations are required to devote a certain percentage of their airplay to Canadian content. That has led to a number of Canadian-only media stars both good (The Tragically Hip, Sloan) and bad (Avril Lavigne, early 90s white rapper Snow). The CFL has a similar rule which requires that\’ of the 40 players on a roster must be Canadian born. This keeps the CFL from becoming a de facto NFL developmental league, and helps maintain its unique identity.

Many US football fans look at the rules that include more players, a wider field, and fewer downs meant to encourage more passing and expect to see a wide open high scoring style of play similar to Arena Football. That\’s not really how it works out–most games end up with final score totals in the 40\’s, but the game itself really isn\’t much more offensively oriented than its American counterpart. The rules may be different, but as in the NFL you need a solid rushing game and a stout defense to win games and championships.

The requirement of native born players making up 50% of a CFL roster also results in a much more even distribution of talent across the league. Certainly there are good teams and bad teams, but the end result is greater parity than is found in the NFL.

Among the \’non-Canadians\’ on the team, its also important to note that the CFL doesn\’t get the highest level US college players. Most with NFL ability are in the NFL, or on a NFL team\’s practice or developmental squad. There\’s definitely some American players that are uniquely suited to the CFL game, but the general level of talent is similar to that seen in the Arena Football League.

Despite the differences between the CFL and American football, at the end of the day its still high level, professional football. Once you understand the unique aspects of the CFL, it\’ll become second nature much as NFL viewers quickly assimilate rule changes there.

In the pre-Internet era, it was often difficult for US fans to find information on the CFL. They don\’t get coverage on ESPN, but they receive extensive attention in the Canadian press. Each CFL city has their own sports media, and the official CFL website also has many resources including previews and statistics.

Even though you could drive to the supermarket right now and get a 20-pound back of dog food, don\’t put any faith into the fact that it is healthy for your pet. There are some pet foods sold over the general market that are lacking in comparison to better types of dog foods that keep dogs healthy as can be.

Meat is full of good protein. The problem is that the protein in cheap dog foods comes from sources that aren\’t so healthy for dogs. Good protein comes from rich red meat and chicken products that are prepared in a wholesome manner. Dogs can notice the difference in taste, but more importantly the high level of good protein will keep immune system levels and a dog\’s ability to heal at a good level.

Cats are known to eat fish products, but so too are dogs. Perhaps not a key ingredient, fish ingredients help the immune system and coat of the canine by offering key vitamins and essential amino acids. Fish ingredients may be derived from trout and herring, but can sometimes come from other sources as well.

The bulk of the meal will likely be comprised of grain- usually wheat. The wheat that is mixed in with the dog food should be of fine quality to promote healthy digestion. Look for a whole wheat blend that offers plenty of fiber and carbohydrates for digesting food and maintaining energy. Wheat products are preferred over corn-based products that are harder for the canine to digest.

Mixtures that contain a considerable amount of rice are also good for canines. Rice is especially important for dogs that are feeling sick or do not have a healthy digestion tract. The rice is easily sent through the canine\’s system, and is full of fiber so that the food is easily passed by the canine. If your canine is truly having problems, sometimes feeding the canine straight rice is a good way to settle the stomach.

Organic food is seen as more healthy than factory-made foods. Organic dog food is the same way, but it also comes at a bit higher of a price on average. Organic dog food will use real foods and safe manufacturing processes, which is leaps and bounds ahead of the factory, lab-created, food that dogs don\’t find too appetizing. Organic foods are more popular today, and can be found at most pet stores.

Canines don\’t live as long as humans, so it is important to treat them right so long as they are enjoying their time with a family. Reconsider the food you feed your canine, and make changes as necessary to verify your dog will not be malnourished or unhealthy.
